Sunday 24 November and 15 December at 10.30am

This is your opportunity to "encounter" Londoners from another time. Protestant refugees from France who made Spitalfields their home.

What life would have been like for a family of 18th century Huguenot silk-weavers?

Please silently come in and experience yourself. Let the sights, smells and sounds of Dennis Severs’ House take you into the lives of the Jervis family.

After an engaging introduction we focus our imagination, awaken the senses and even perceive the aura during the very intimate visit of this amazing home where Londoners of a very special kind used to reside.

Before this unique experience a gentle walk takes us through Spitalfields to hear the histories of the people who lived and live in this fascinating East End neighbourhood.

Huguenots like the Jervis will be the main protagonists but we will not forget about American writers, Jewish playwrights, a Russian Tzar and many London outsiders who found in Spitalfields not just a home but a place of inspiration where their spirit could be lifted and their arts expressed.
